"Mom's tam 2"

Here I am, looking a little stunned in my finished tam. I started this hat intending to replace one I'd made earlier for my mom and then thought had been ruined by her cat. In reality, she was able to clean and restore the original hat, so I will keep this one.

Found objects

When I'm not blitzing craigslist, looking for a housing situation for me and Dodger, I'm still getting rid of stuff I no longer want. Today I found some old, old craft and art relics from my distant past. Exhibit A, an embroidered Eden. I think I drew this on graph paper, then primitively embroidered it on cross-stitch fabric. Never filled in the sky. The animals are a lion and a lamb.

Exhibit B, a drawing of a Van Gogh self-portrait from a sketchbook dated 1993--that means I was fourteen! I don't think I can draw this well anymore. I had a lot of practice back then.

It's hot, and you need a pool

Dodger happy and hot after an afternoon walk today. It's breezy in Nashville, and not terrible in the shade, but the direct sunlight combined with exercise is HOT! Arrow points to WIP, Mom's tam 2.

Dodger's new toy, the six rope-toy-legged lobster!

Abby sent me this extremely cool little Andy Warhol wristlet. The front flips up and has a mirror. Super cool!

Rebirth of yarn

Today I'm culling the apartment in preparation for moving out in the next month or two: throwing out papers, tossing out patterns I'm never going to make, making a Goodwill pile.

One thing I'm reusing is super chunky Lion Brand yarn. I started working on a knitted blanket two years ago, and it's just been hanging around, thrown in with my winter clothes, and recently, thrown on the empty bottom shelf of my bookcase. Ignored, wherever it was.

Once I started hand winding balls today, the possibilities jumped to mind! Before I frogged it I was going to put the yarn in the Goodwill pile, but now I think it will be a purse (eventually).
