. . . even better than monkey on your foot! Monkey on a stick, even better than monkey on a string! Um, that's sort of an old inside joke of yea, these many years ago, perhaps even junior high.

Yes! It's so cute!!!
I would knit my sock monkey hat a little differently. I would leave off the red hat and pom-pom, and I would sew on big buttons for the eyes.I might make the red intarsia part larger, more like it appears on the actual sock. Also, the ears should be tan, not white.
